Our History

“Mighty things from small beginnings grow.” – John Dryden

On July 7, 2007, Dubel Agosto’s dreams and aspirations materialized. After years of dreaming, Father’s Harbor Academy would not only become a legitimate business, but a launching pad for students and teachers alike. Laying the groundwork for tomorrow’s leaders is no easy task as Dubel Agosto soon found out when the doors of her tiny school swung open on January 7th, 2008. With only 11 students and minimal resources, Dubel Agosto employed her two eldest children, Charise Orozco and Julio Agosto. Equipped with years of experience in media and recording arts, Charise and Julio were no strangers to chasing dreams and understood the call and passion their mother had for education. The first year ended quickly and successfully as F.H.A. saw its first graduate walk the stage.

By the beginning of the 2008-2009 year, the small school in an obscure building on the Southside of Jacksonville, Fl was beginning to show signs of life and flourish just as the director had envisioned. In only its second year, F.H.A. tripled its student body establishing itself as a practicable alternative to public education by developing a unique and relevant art-integrated curriculum. Dubel Agosto did not stop there. Later that year she employed her husband and business partner Julio Agosto Sr., along with their youngest daughter and fashion expert Gabrielle Sullivan. These new additions would add depth and dimension and inevitably lead to the development of F.H.A.’s multi-faceted art departments.

Today, Father’s H.a.r.b.o.r. Academy sits on the forefront of Beach Blvd’s massive business park, Midtowne Centre. Offering a variety of core academics, F.H.A. has built its foundation on real world principles and exclusive art courses like Recording Arts, Intro to Fashion, Media, Music, Vocals, and Video Production. Almost four years after opening its doors, F.H.A. remains a beacon for those who have lost their way as its director and staff continues to introduce revolutionary teaching methods. This dream has not only manifested, but created a ripple effect in the lives of graduates and students that will last a lifetime.

A letter from our Founder

Fathers H.a.r.b.o.r. Academy is a school offering a unique opportunity for students to excel in their elementary and secondary education. Our students are motivated to achieve through the integration of the visual, performing, and recording arts. Our teachers rigorously use research based strategies that propel all children to increase their self-efficacy, and self-worth while they participate in creative projects that are proven to increase standardized test scores.

In the secondary, these projects are aligned with vocational goals as project participants are sponsored by business partners and ultimately become apprentices in desired occupations.

As FHA students transition to the community, they will become role models and prove that all students can achieve performance, regardless of income, race, ability, or gender. Furthermore, each student will testify of the unique beauty, individual significance, and creative imagination that God deposits in each person that is ultimately inspired by Him.
